Converting a template to be SiteGrinder ready

The other day I saw this great tutorial for making a cool portfolio website design in Photoshop.  It’s a great tutorial, you can follow along and they even make the .psd available:  http://designinstruct.com/web-design/dark-portfolio-webdesign-photoshop/

But I thought to myself, “You know what would be really cool?  If you could just crank that out with SiteGrinder”.  So I downloaded the .psd, spent an hour adding some hints to the layernames, adding hover states for the buttons, and getting those backgrounds set up as repeating tiles and then things were go.

I spent a little more time in the Design Manager, configuring the galleries and setting up the form alignment. And when it was looking nice I deployed it, added some images and metadata to the galleries and uploaded it.

Anyway, here is the final site:  http://www.medialab.com/PWMenus/dark-folio/

And, if you are curious, here is the modified .psd: http://www.medialab.com/PWMenus/dark-folio/download/dark-portfolio-web-layout_sitegrinder_ready.psd.zip

All design credit goes to Ionut Ciursa of Design Instruct who made the beautiful .psd in the first place. He spent a lot more time on it than I did.
