| I feel like Im missing something but Ive gone through the tuts and still havent figured out my problem. I build my web page in CS4 and whenever I save and then go to build it I get an error that says "Could not complete this operation. There are no user slices." Im not really sure what to do. My text comes up but the images I created for the background and to highlight certain areas doesnt. Is there a step Im missing Ive tried using different Save for Web presets in the sitegrinder panel. Any help would be great Im up at 1 in the morning trying to build a website for class and this is starting to frustrate me. |

The message you are encountering seems to be a CS4 issue. As of right now we aren't sure what causes it. Two other users have encountered it. One said it went away when he rebooted his machine.
As yet, we have been unable to reproduce it here. Clearly it is a message from the Save for Web plug-in. Try making a custom Save for Web preset in the Save for Web plugin. (Be sure to give it the .irs extension and save it with the others). When you next open SiteGrinder you should see your custom option listed in the compression panel. Try that.

| Thanks for the quick response. I tried making a custom save for web file (.irs) and still site grinder didnt work. Even if I create user slices it doesnt work. Even if I give each layer a custom save for web preset it wont work. The webpage that comes up while sitegrinder is building the page I made tells me that I no longer have the current version. Would this be something I should try? Dont know what to do, I want to buy this software but I need to try it first. |

| update: I downloaded the newest version and still am having the same problem. I think I have cs3 somewhere and Im going to try and install that on here and see if I can just use my cs3 to create webpages. Are there any known issues with cs3 on xp? |

CS3 works very well. If you come up with any additional info that can help us track this down please let us know.
The vast majority of CS4 users aren't seeing this message.
I have one other thing to try , but it will mean deleting your preferences. Can you try opening CS4 while holding down control-alt-shift? You'll get a dialog asking if you want to initialize settings. Say yes and then try a build again. |

Yea nothing worked. Should I have tried to reinstall sitegrinder after deleting my preferences?
Also let me make sure Im doing all the steps correctly, after I have built my layout I put my hints on my text layers but dont need any hints on my image layers correct?
after that i save my psd and open sitegrinder and then just build it.
There is no need for me to make slices right? and in the sitegrinder window do i need to make any adjustments on any of the tabs? |

That's correct. No need to make slices or anything. And you do not need to hint the image layers.
This is a bug we are trying to track down.
One other thing to try: Open SiteGrinder (with no other PSD open) and in the side bar try opening and building one of the Sample Files.
Do you get the same message? |

I'm having the same problem. Has there been any updates to this. I am using CS 4 and this worked fine for one day but now there isn't a psd file that doesn't give me this error. Even the samples.
Thanks, |

Thanks that worked but the strange thing is I was already using SiteGrinder 2.1.4_r955 which is the same version that is installed now.
I downloaded my origninal exe yesterday around noon. Has there been an update since then. if not maybe just reinstalling fixes the issue.
Thanks for you quick response. |

| That is strange. Not sure why that would be. Maybe there was something wrong with you original installation. |
