Set Up Multi-Level Menus Without Programming

SiteGrinder builds menus from text layers, graphic layers, or a combination of both. The “Find out more...” vertical text menu to the right was created in a matter of seconds from a single text layer!

A text layer can also become a horizontal menu, like this one:

All it takes is adding the word “-menu” (we call this a hint) to the end of a text layer’s name and choosing a hilite style. SiteGrinder does the rest.

Making popup menus, something that is confusing and tedious with other tools, is shockingly simple with SiteGrinder. Popup menus are just menu layers whose names match the names of the menu items that trigger them. In the menu example above, if we wanted the menu item “Really” to trigger a submenu we would make a text layer with the menu items that should appear when “Menu” is rolled over and name it “Really-menu”. At that point you are one click of SiteGrinder’s Build button away from a web page with a pop-up menu on it.

Layer Sets Make Menus Easy and Powerful at the same time!

One of the most important aspects of SiteGrinder’s “hints” is that they not only work on individual layers, they also work on layer sets (the little folders in Photoshop’s layers palette that let you group layers.) This allows you to set up menus using graphical buttons if you prefer maximum visual impact and maximum precision. Try out the graphical buttons with popup menus below:
