With SiteGrinder, it's easy to develop rich web layouts, with images, text, multiple pages, button navigation, galleries, multimedia, and much more - all without leaving Photoshop. To make it all happen, all you have to do is assign some simple "hints" to your layers to tell SiteGrinder how to treat them. In the screen shot below, you can see how we've set up navigation and multiple pages using Photoshop's Layer Comps feature. Mouseover the icons within the image for more info.
The SiteGrinder User Interface is intuitive and powerful. The Pages pane allows you to easily define custom page settings like centering, background colors and tiles, and page titles. The powerful clone feature allows you to generate multiple pages from a single design, saving you time and streamlining your workflow.
SiteGrinder makes use of Photoshop's Layer Comp feature to set up and define pages. Simply create a new Layer Comp, name it whatever you like, and set the layers to visible that you want to appear on that page. In this way, a single Photoshop document quickly and easily becomes a multi-page website - in a matter of minutes!
One of the primary functions of SiteGrinder is to automatically and smartly slice up your design, optimize the slices for the Web, and decide which graphics should be reused and which should be unique to a page. SiteGrinder is very smart about all of this, and it saves you, the designer, an incredible amount of time doing repetitive monkey work.
But SiteGrinder is also flexible, and gives you complete control over its automated processes. In the Compression panel of the User Interface, you can give SiteGrinder custom compression settings for every image element on your site. You can set the default output mode for all images across the site, as well as custom settings for individual images.
With SiteGrinder Pro, the time saving features keep getting better. The Gallery feature is a fast and flexible solution ideal for photographers, artists, designers, or anyone who wants to share their images with the world.
Since everything is based in Photoshop, you're in complete control of how your gallery is laid out. Define the size and shape of the main image area and thumbnails. Then open the User Interface and tell SiteGrinder where to find the images. Thats it! SiteGrinder can size your images appropriately and will even generate thumbnails for you.
Want a gallery with a little more functionality? No problem. Easily add "previous" and "next" buttons to let the viewer browser through your gallery. Add captions via metadata. You can even build in a PayPal button to let users buy the image they are viewing. Fast, flexible, and dead easy.
SiteGrinder Pro's Slideshow feature is an easy way to add dynamic Flash elements to your site. Using the same fully automated concept of the Gallery feature, you tell SiteGrinder where to find the images, it does the rest.
The Slideshow feature takes the complication out of employing Flash on a site. Why spend months learning the Flash interface, ActionScript, XML, and proper embedding methods when all you really need is a slick looking slideshow to spice up your web page? SiteGrinder builds it all in. Just set up a placeholder in Photoshop, give it a hint, point to a folder, and you're done. You even have a variety of options for cool transitions between images to choose from.
With the External Media feature (-xmedia hint), SiteGrinder Pro's flexibility is greatly expanded. Supported media types include Flash and animated GIF files, digital video and audio, external images, and more.
Advanced users take advantage of the External Media feature's ability to import HTML with a variety of importer types. Using external HTML files users can incorporate web content on their pages that is not appropriate for creation in Photoshop. These include lengthy stretches of text, advanced PHP controls such as calendars or blogs, PayPal stores, etc.
Take ownership of your website. That's our motto, and we strive to make every aspect of SiteGrinder reflect that. SiteGrinder does a lot in terms of handling all the dirty work of building your website. In fact, it does just about all of it. But we know that sometimes, for one reason or another, you just want to get your hands dirty. That's what the Settings panel is there for. To give you as much control as you need over your website.
Say you need to add some piece of JavaScript to your site to add a cool function. The Settings panel is where you'd do it. Want your popups to stay visible a bit longer than the default? Here you can give them custom delay times. Set rollovers to track which page the user is on. Add metadata like keywords and a description. Control the size of external CSS files. You can even set up FTP access. You may not ever need these features, but if you do, SiteGrinder has the flexibility to put you in complete control.
Design your site however you envision it. Add some simple hints. Click the Build button. SiteGrinder works its magic, and there you are. Within minutes, your Photoshop design is converted to a functional website, coded up in valid, cross browser compatible XHTML and CSS.
The difficulty of this task is invisible to the user as SiteGrinder builds graphics, text, and interactivity using modern web standard technologies and takes into account tricky requirements like cross-platform browser compatibility.
This unique system works the way you do, turning web design into a more creatively satisfying activity. Enable your web site's functionality as you design it, quickly testing it out live in a web browser whenever you feel like it.
