How do I fix problems with web text?
Here are a few situations you might encounter with web text along with the solutions:
Space between words and paragraphs is different on the web page
Web text ignores or treats differently extra empty space. If you use tabs, multiple spaces or carriage returns to space out your text, most of this extra space will either disappear on the resulting web page or use more space that you expect. The proper way to space out words and paragraphs with SiteGrinder is to use Photoshop's text controls. For example, don't use returns to add space between paragraphs, use Photoshop's paragraph control panel to set the "space after" to the amount you want. This has the advantage of being more precise than using carriage returns. You can also use indentation controls, margins, etc.
Text is appearing lower on the web page than in the Photoshop document
One of the unfortunate differences between Photoshop and Web text is that Photoshop doesn't obey the "space before" paragraph setting for the first paragraph, but web text does. If the text on the page is too low it's often because your first paragraph has a value greater than zero in the "space before" setting. Set this to zero. Use "space after" instead to avoid this problem.
Text line-height on the page is different from the way it appears in Photoshop
If you leave your text leading set to "auto" in Photoshop you may see a discrepancy with the results on the web pages SiteGrinder produces. If you are concerned about this then use a specific leading in Photoshop instead of "auto".
