How do I protect an email link from spammers?

To hide an email address from spammers you follow two steps:

1. Generate an "obfuscated" address from your actual address using an online tool like the one found here. Some of these tools generate a javascript and a non javascript version. You'll be using the latter. You need to know is whether the address that's generated starts with "mailto:" or not.

2. Use the obfuscated link as your hyperlink in SiteGrinder's Buttons panel

There are two ways to set an email link from SiteGrinder's Buttons panel. You can use the "email" link type or, if your address includes "mailto:" at the beginning you can use the "literal" link type.

If the generated address contains the "mailto:" but you still want to use the email link type so you can easily set the email subject you can just delete the "mailto:' at the front.

Here's an example of an obfuscated address with the "mailto:" included:

mailto:tom@tom.com

Here it is with the first seven chunks removed, which is what you would paste into the email link address field:

tom@tom.com
