Making an Action to Open SiteGrinder 2

At Media Lab we're all about getting things done quickly, smoothly, and with the least effort. Even opening SiteGrinder 2 by selecting it from Photoshop's File->Automate menu seems a little slow to us, so we're going to show you how to make a keyboard shortcut to do it for you. This is especially convenient because SiteGrinder requires you to save the file before opening it, and our Action can do that too.

  1. Open the Actions palette from Photoshop's "Window" menu if it isn't already open
  2. Click on the group you wish the action to appear in. This will probably be "Default Actions"
  3. Select "New Action" from the Actions palette.
  4. Name the action "Open SiteGrinder" in the dialog that appears
  5. Select the function key you want to assign to this action
  6. Select "Insert menu item" from the Actions palette menu
  7. Select "Save" from the File menu
  8. Select "Insert menu item" from the Actions palette menu again
  9. Select "SiteGrinder 2" from the File->Automate menu

That's it!

Now, every time you hit the function key you specified Photoshop will save your document and open SiteGrinder 2.

Sadly if you don't have at least one document open when you press your hotkey Photoshop will complain that the "Save" menu item isn't available. You should be able to just click the "continue" button to open SiteGrinder.
