Hints are added to the end of the name of a layer, layer set, or Photoshop CS layer comp after a dash character. Thus to make a layer named "home" into a button you change the layer's name to either "home-button" or "home-b".

-popdown   Any Y The "button" with the matching name causes this to hide
-hide   Any Y This layer or set will be hidden when any popups appear from any button
-merge -mg Set Y Forces the contents of a layer set to be merged into a single graphic
  -g Text   Forces a type layer to be rendered as a graphic
-text   Text   Forces a type layer to generate live styled text instead of a graphic. Same as turning off anti-aliasing for the layer
-haslinks   Text   Use this hint & a matching "links" layer to put links on words inside type layers
-links   Text   A list of links matching words or phrases in the corresponding "haslinks" type layer
-link   Text   Applies the contents of a text field as a hyperlink for the button of the same name.
-@link   Text   Applies the contents of a type layer as an email link for the button of the same name.
-scroll   Text   Gives the type layer a vertical scrollbar on the final web page.
-menu   Text Y Causes a type layer or a layer set to be a menu
-rrect   rect   Causes a Rounded Rectangle shape layer to become a re-sizable rounded rect web element
-fav   Any   Causes a layer to become a 16X16 favorites icon for the site
-page   Comp   Specifies that a layer comp represents a page; optional for comps with matching buttons

Short
Some hints have short abbreviated versions. Long and short versions are completely interchangeable.
Type
The layer type the hint can be applied to. (Exception:s "comp" denotes Photoshop CS layer com, "rect" denotes a rounded recangle shape layer created using Photoshop's rounded Rectangle tool..)
Set?
A "Y" means the hint can be applied to a layer set.
