SiteGrinder

What Photoshop text features might look different on the final web page?

Borders
Photoshop doesn't support borders for text fields, but HTML has a number of options for placing borders around text. For normal text and fieldsets in -form layers, SiteGrinder can add borders via the "Decoration" panel. For text buttons and menus, text border support is in "Text Buttons" panel.

Background Color
Photoshop doesn't support background colors for text fields, but SiteGrinder does. For normal text and fieldsets in -form layers, SiteGrinder can add background colors via the "Decoration" panel. For text buttons and menus, background color support is in "Text Buttons" panel.

Scrolling text boxes with scroll bars
Obviously this is not an option in Photoshop but is an option in SiteGrinder's HTML creation.

Vertical spacing with blank lines
As much as possible, SiteGrinder tries to keep the HTML text true to Photoshop text. One area where HTML and Photoshop differ though is the way blank lines are handled. If you are using empty lines to create extra space between paragraphs you'll find that in HTML your text is probably spread much more than you wanted. The solution is to not use empty return carriages, but instead use Photoshop's 'space-after' setting. This will give strong fidelity between Photoshop and your final HTML.

Photoshop's 'space-before' paragraph setting.
Be careful when using Photoshop's 'space-before' paragraph setting. SiteGrinder correctly supports it, but in Internet Explorer 6 for Windows if this setting is used on your very first paragraph then your text will appear a little low on the page. We recommend using 'space-after' instead, or at least not using 'space-before' on the first paragraph.

Fonts
If a font is used in a text that SiteGrinder outputs as a graphic, then there is no problem. But if a font is used in text that SiteGrinder has been instructed to output as styled web text, then the people viewing your web page must have those fonts installed to see them.
