Case Study 1
An 83-year-old female is undergoing pre-op testing which includes a type and screen with a 2-unit Red Cell crossmatch. One 7mL EDTA tube was collected, labeled with her full name, date of birth, medical record number, collection date and time, and the collector's initials. The sample was acceptable per the blood bank's Specimen Acceptability procedure. The sample was processed and tested on the bench with the traditional tube method. Results are as follows.
