Patient-Centered Postanalytic Component of Total Testing Process

A post-analytic patient-centered component of the total testing process is the immediate communication of critical test results to the clinical person in charge of the patient's care. It is also important if the results are given verbally (e.g., by phone) to go one step further and ask the person receiving the results to read back the patient information and test result(s).
