Connective Tissue

There are several types of connective tissue, including:
  • Loose connective tissue
  • Dense connective tissue (collagen)
  • Adipose tissue
  • Bone
  • Blood
Common components of connective tissue are collagen fibers, reticular fibers, and elastic fibers. Five varieties of collagen are described below. Type I and Type III collagen are found in the liver.
  • Type I: Basic loose/dense
  • Type II: Associated with cartilage
  • Type III: Reticular fibers
  • Type IV: Basement membrane
  • Type V: Fetal membrane
