Measures to remove the toxin are not necessary. Therapy may primarily be directed to reassurance since some patients exhibit panic reaction. Recovery for the majority of patients is within 6 hours. Seizures and hyperthermia most often occur in children. In poisonings where hyperthermia presents, the course of treatment is cooling blankets or sponge baths but NEVER salicylates.
