The arrows indicate stomatocytes in the image on the right. Conditions in which a significant number of stomatocytes can be seen include hereditary stomatocytosis, neoplastic disorders, liver disease, and Rh null disease. The largest numbers of in vivo stomatocytes are present in hereditary stomatocytosis and their identification is necessary to make the diagnosis.
