Hypertension

Persistently elevated blood pressure is a risk factor associated with metabolic syndrome. Angiotensinogen secreted by adipocytes (fat cells) is one cause of hypertension. Increased non-esterified free fatty acid (NEFA) released from the breakdown of triglycerides in adipose tissue elevates blood pressure.
