Introduction

Electricity is a source of energy that is essential to power devices that we use everyday. However, we must recognize that there are potential hazards associated with electricity, including electric shocks, burns, fires, and explosions.
For this reason it is important to understand the basic principles of electricity, learn what engineering controls and administrative controls are present in our workplace, and know how to respond to an electricity-related incident.
