Metastatic Carcinoma Immunohistochemical (IHC) Stains

IHC stains may be used by the pathologist to determine metastatic origin. The specific IHC stains will vary and depend on the suspected primary source of the tumor. These stains may include cytokeratins and more specific markers, such as prostate specific antigen (PSA).
