Tumor Marker Receptors

The expression of receptors on the surface of cells facilitates the binding and uptake of the compound of interest. The receptors to be discussed in greater detail include:
  • Estrogen and progesterone receptors (ER/PR)
  • Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2/neu)
The utility of these receptors and their clinical role as tumor markers will be explored further on the pages to follow.
