Risk Assessment

There are two major factors in assessing risk:

  • The probability that the risk event will occur
  • The impact the risk will have on patient safety
If a risk has a 50% probability of occurring, you need to assess what the impact will be on patient safety because a 50% chance of process failure is pretty high. If the risk event has a low impact rating, you may not need to mitigate the risk.
