Centrifugation Temperature

The energy within a spinning centrifuge causes the temperature within the centrifuge to increase. The stability of certain analytes is affected by an increase in temperature, and refrigeration helps to maintain the sample stability. Refrigerated centrifuges have been developed to help minimize the effects of temperature on several analytes, including many temperature-sensitive enzymes and hormones. Laboratories should include the required centrifugation temperatures in their sample handling operating procedures.
