Category B

Agents in Category B are considered the second highest priority agents and are included in this group because they:
  • Are moderately easy to disseminate.
  • Cause moderate morbidity and low mortality.
  • Require specific enhancements of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) diagnostic capacity and enhanced disease surveillance.
Examples of Category B agents are shown in Table 2.
