Other Types of Diversity

There are many other layers of diversity, such as the secondary aspects mentioned previously. A few examples include: education, income, and language. No matter what similarities or differences we have with our coworkers, the key concept is to actively encourage a sense of comfort with diversity. Therefore, learning about diversity reaches far beyond the fulfillment of legal and/or procedural requirements. Embracing and promoting diversity is about "doing the right thing" and not allowing assumptions, stereotypes, or prejudices to cloud our judgment when working with our team members.

When employees recognize the power behind diversity practices, those from all dimensions can feel a sense of community, value, and an overall comfort with their workplace. Everyone can work to their full potential in an atmosphere of mutual understanding and respect for our differences. Let's celebrate our differences and enjoy the richness that comes with unique individuals working together for a common cause.
