What Do I Do when Someone Complains?

The supervisor should:
  • Listen actively. Allow the complainant to tell their story.
  • Keep parties separate. Never force a confrontation between the complaining employee and the alleged harasser. Do not put the complainant back to work with the alleged harasser.
  • Notify the Human Resources department or other appropriate member of management as soon as possible, as defined by the company's anti-harassment policy.
